Operation running! But: Short conversations in the stairwell, the gossip in the corridor and the small talk in the morning over a coffee are missing!
Nothing has kept us busy for weeks more than the topic “COVID-19”. Internal and external processes have to be rethought and lived. Nevertheless, we can proudly say that we are very well prepared for the crisis, because decentralized working is not a mysterious word for us. For many years we have been offering many of our employees the opportunity to work from home and are equipped with the appropriate infrastructure.
As we are registered with the BSI as a “critical infrastructure”, we have already an emergency plan which, among other things, includes a pandemic plan. But nobody of us would have thought that this plan would become reality one day.
Of course it is also new for us when almost ALL of our employees are working from home from one day to the next. But after only a few days it has become clear that we are a well-functioning team. The only thing we are missing at the moment is the personal exchange, which suddenly has to take place virtually and cannot completely replace the personal conversation. In times of crisis like these, it is more important than ever to maintain internal communication between our employees. Short discussions in the stairwell, the gossip in the corridor and the small talk in the morning over a coffee are unfortunately irreplaceable, but we still want to remain networked with each other. Therefore we try to make the best out of the situation. We start our day with a short virtual stand-up meeting of the individual departments, via our intranet and other communication platforms we exchange a lot of information and at the same time you can get a good impression of what it looks like at home (see photo) 😊.
So if there is anything positive to be gained from the current situation, it is certainly the strengthening of the team and the team spirit between colleagues. Thanks also to all employees, who show their full performance in this exceptional situation, even if some of them have to manage work and family at the same time.
We are also already prepared for a potential curfew. As a critical infrastructure, we have been granted a special permit on the recommendation of the BSI and the Bundesbank and can thus ensure that we can reach our company building and the data centres.
Together with our customers, we have noticed that there are currently no restrictions in operation and support. Together we will make sure that this will remain.
We are convinced that we will all survive this difficult time well and wish all of us much strength and health!

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Matthias Terlau as a new member of the Supervisory Board since 26 June 2019. There is another change: Prof. Dr. Hans-Gert Penzel is the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board since 26.06.2019.
This year we received active support for the annual apple harvest on our own orchard. 16 diligent helpers of the women's group '"Neuland, Neustart-Frauen finden Ihr Platz" of the Bürgerstiftung Lebensraum Aachen visited us.
