Also this season were our orchards full of fresh apples. Like last year, we were actively supported during harvesting by the “Frauengruppe Herzogenrath” (Women’s Group Herzogenrath).

The women’s group belongs to the non-profit organization “Bürgerstiftung Lebensraum Aachen”, which is committed to stimulating the involvement of citizens through material, ideal and methodical support. A special focus of the foundation is to support and initiate sustainable development processes.

By the way: our meadow orchard is an important habitat for a large number of partly endangered animal and plant species, it does not need synthetic pesticides and mineral nitrogen fertilizers and has a positive effect on the local climate. In addition to various types of apples, it provides a home for many species of insects, chickens, horses and beehives from which honey is extracted.
